Plymouth weren't here just to make up the numbers, and they certainly started the brighter of the two sides running in two tries and taking a 0-15 lead before Jersey registered their first score.
Jersey kept their composure, and after the first onslaught started to put phases together, building on solid foundations from good set pieces.
It was the tried and tested catch and drive in front of the pavillion that was to yield the scores that were to set Jersey on the right path, and they duly went in 19-15 up at half time.
As the match went on Jersey exerted their superiority, and extra fitness showed as the management team took the opportunity to try out different combinations. There were four more good tries without reply in the second half, but Plymouth definitely played their part, always willing to try and run the ball from deep, and will have taken a lot from the encounter.
Please join us again next week for the 2nd pre-season fixture against Scarlets that will kick off at 4pm.
