A great game of rugby played in tricky, wet conditions.
And it went down to the final minute and the final kick. Guernsey who were trailling by 7 points won a lineout in the pav corner, and after several pick and gos forced their way over, but the unfortunate Kenny Hellier just pulled his conversion attempt that would have tied the scores.
Jersey held a narrow 7-3 advantage at the break, having endured long periods of Guernsey pressure.
The second half ebbed and flowed from one side to the other, and at the end it was the Reds who just did enough to retain the Siam Cup, sponsored by Ipes, in front of a very appreciative crowd of over 2,200.
The home club also won the Fallaize Cup for 2nd XVs by 43-21, but it was visitors Guernsey who retained both the Nash Cup for veterans (winning 10-19) and Ladies Siam (0-43).
