Jersey Reds defied ongoing injury troubles and a tricky travel schedule to play their part on a thrilling Boxing Day encounter at Goldington Road.
Hosts Bedford Blues were cheered on by one of their largest crowds of recent years, just 380 shy of their 5,000 capacity, but were outgunned by the visiting Reds for the most part before scoring 12 points in the last four minutes to seal a 39-37 win.
Jersey earned two points in defeat, which keep them ahead of the Blues in the Championship table, and the Reds will be looking to deliver a festive treat for fans back on the Island this weekend when Ealing Trailfinders are the visitors. Kick-off at St Peter on New Year's Day is at 2pm.
