Everyone at Jersey Rugby Club was saddened to learn that Barrie Stead died on Saturday morning, having been unwell for several weeks.
Barrie was a stalwart of the club over many decades since moving to the Island from his native Yorkshire; he made a significant contribution to the club's rise up the leagues over the past 10 years. Our thoughts are with Barrie's family at this sad time.
The following notice was published in the Jersey Evening Post on Tuesday October 25th:
STEAD, Barrie. - - Died peacefully at home after a short illness courageously borne, with his family at his side on Saturday, 22 October, 2016, aged 78 years, beloved husband of June and much-loved Dad of Richard and Michelle, Grandad to Danielle, Aaron and Elizabeth, a big brother to Roy, devoted servant to Jersey Rugby Club. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral Service - Relatives and friends wishing to celebrate Barrie's life are invited to meet at the Crematorium Chapel, Westmount Road on Tuesday 1 November at 2.30pm. Please wear rugby tops or casual clothes.
