Jersey Reds and Hartpury went into this festive Championship fixture locked together on 21 points, and there was little to choose on the scoreboard on the night.
The home side grabbed a 7-0 first half lead with a mauled try finished by Selway and conversion by Brendan Cope. Cope added a penalty soon after the break, but a Nick Carpenter try from Callum Braley's kick ahead made it 10-7 and all to play for inside the last quarter of an hour.
Cope's second penalty stretched the lead to six points and then a 68th-minute yellow card for Hartpury replacement Joe Mullis put the visiting defence under even greater pressure. Mark Best slid a precision grubber through and Jason Worrall touched down in the bowl corner.
Hartpury had lost their losing BP at this stage, but grabbed it back with yet another score from a kick ahead, Luke Eves winning the race to set up a tight last couple of minutes, but the Reds held on to claim the points.
