A frustrating day at the Richmond Athletic Ground saw the Reds return with nothing to show for their efforts, while hosts Richmond were celebrating their first league win of the season at the fourth attempt.
Early Jersey pressure saw a series of penalties against the hosts and pressure from the Reds' scrum, but no points were scored and it was Richmond who led at the break thanks to Luc Jones' try and a Rob Kirby conversion.
Kirby added a penalty soon after the resumption and also converted a try by Jordan Simpson-Hefft which meant the hosts led 17-0. The visitors did get on the board thanks to tries from Apakuki Ma'afu and Jerry Sexton, with two well-struck conversions by Brendan Cope, but the hosts held on with Kirby adding two more penalties to deny the Reds a losing BP.
