Renowned international referee Nigel Owens MBE is coming to Jersey in September, when he will be the star attraction at a special dinner taking place at Stade Santander International. An Evening With Nigel Owens will take place at the Jersey Reds' Clubhouse on Thursday September 20th, starting at 7pm, and promises to be an event not to be missed.
Nigel Owens is the most recognisable referee in world rugby and has taken charge of a record 81 test matches during his 13-year international career. This includes officiating at three Rugby World Cups, refereeing the 2015 World Cup Final between Australia and New Zealand and holding, with the Englishman Wayne Barnes, the record for most matches refereed in the 6 Nations - 19. Owens has also refereed six finals in the European Champions Cup and taken charge of more than 150 games in the Guinness Pro 14.
47-year-old Owens, who was born and raised on a council estate in Mynyddcerrig in Carmarthenshire, west Wales, is one of the few openly gay figures in professional sport after 'coming out' in 2007. He is a renowned after-dinner speaker and also works as a TV presenter in Wales.
A limited number of tables remain available for An Evening With Nigel Owens on September 20th. Tables for 10 people cost £600 + GST to include a three-course dinner, followed by Nigel Owens on-stage. Book your table by contacting Jersey Reds Operations Manager Sean Dunne
